Yep, two years ago this day on a bright shining Sunday afternoon shovels were in hand ready to turn dirt on the NSCofC building expansion project. As you sift through the countless photos, videos and posts that have accumulated over the past two years, it is our hope that the construction process thus far has been well documented not only for us now, but for our family and friends in the future. - Monday. First layers for under the pavement. Perfect day for work outside. Unfortunately, rain forecast for tomorrow so possible delay in paving this week.

- Some GREAT aerial shots of the property. Work on the dumpster area and ramp area. These may be the LAST pictures of our property prior to paving of the parking lot.

- New canopy going up in the middle of a rain storm.

- Concrete pour for sidewalks.

- Electricity, lights, canopy foundation, sidewalk and parking curb forms, and running water!

- Only days away from curbs and paving. Unless rain stops us, this will happen quickly.

- Major steps toward completion of the facility. Much work beginning outside in preparation for paving, landscaping, and so forth.

- Paint inside, the disconnected well, big fans to keep the air clear, bathroom ceilings. So much!

- On a rainy Sunday, see the sewer connection in neighboring Sheltons Run subdivision, duct work being installed, sheetrock being taped and mudded, and covered ditches and trenches on the property.

- Sewer almost done, much inside work, HVAC going in, connections to the old building.

- Major excavation!

- The last major excavation is taking place right now, sheetrock is going up, and the roof is now completely covered.

- New glass doors, lighting in the auditorium area overhead, much more wiring and electrical, funny and suspicious wiring of the telephone/Internet circuit, the arrival of the final pieces of roofing (not yet installed though), and water hookup very soon.
27 - May 21
- Getting ready for today's Ministry Fair, the first official major meeting in our new building expansion.
26 - May 14
- Windows are being installed, much internal wiring, platforms for air handling, more doors installed, and wood for door casings.
25 - May 7
- First signs of electrical, window facings are being installed, the faux ceiling mounts are going in, and the place is generally being secured with doors more and more.
24 - April 30
- Much inside work. Baptistry has shown up for mounting. Bathroom piping is being secured. Absolutely, the rooms and doors and such are easily seen now.
23 - April 12
- Many more rooms taking form, fire hydrant now permanently in place, roof almost done. It is really starting to look like a building!
22 - April 7a
- Water line installed, a new fire hydrant, and inside rooms taking shape.
21 - April 7
- More walls, roof, insulation, water lines, and the final steps of our own fire hydrant.
20 - April 5
- Walls are going up and the water and sewer line is being trenched along with our very own fire hydrant!

- Windows, doors, siding, and the place is beginning to look like home.
18 - April 2
- One door is up (who will use that?), a backwall panel is up, and a trophy car is demonstrated on the floor.
17 - March 26
- The steel is up and the result is something that looks like a big auditorium of some kind. Watch out...still lots of loose pieces and parts on the site.
16 - March 22
- The first steel is bolted to the slab. Suddenly, the project takes on a three dimensional aspect as it now rises up from the ground.

- Ready for steel! This site looks like a big basketball court (except for the pipes). It looks great.
13 - March 5
- Put away for one week under a cover of tarps and plastic, the concrete pour needs to harden, cure, and set with little or no bother. It is this setting process which provides the concrete with its static strength.

- After many months, we now have a building pad! Doesn't all of that smooth, green cement just make you want to take a dive in?
11 - February 25
- Deconstruction! These photos are about the removal of a footer around our building due to incorrect concrete mixtures. The good news is that we are on our way again. (Boy, who is going to carry away all of the rubble?)

- Getting ready for the final slab pour.
09 - December 21
- Foundation Cut at 2:45PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Other pictures build up to the cut and then depict the additional work around the soon-to-be concrete slab for the new building.
08 - December 16
- Some final pictures before the footers are poured...assuming the weather cooperates. This mud hole will quickly turn into our new and very special building. Once the footers are in, the expansion project becomes far less dependent on weather conditions.
07 - November 18
- Our building showed up! It is like an Erector set. Probably thousands of parts. It was offloaded about 10AM today. Hard to imagine what it will look like seeing it laying on the ground like this.
06 - November 17
- The heavy equipment is back! And our last and favorite tree stump is now gone, too. Our old front yard is now getting ready for footers and a foundation.
05 - October 15
- Clean-up and recovery from our flood. Anne and Tonya are our heros! See the carpet being pulled up, the floors being painted, and the moving of all of the downstairs furniture.
04 - October 8
- An attempt to stem the water from flowing into our septic tanks outside. The mud was easily calf-deep. The rain was coming down in sheets!
03 - October 7
- The first day of our "sewer flood". What a mess! See the damage and clean-up on Friday.
02 - October 5
- Temporary electrical poles and power is being installed and should be done in several days.
01-September 24
- A mysterious hole appeared in the overhead of one of our classrooms. Actually, no mystery at all...just work to find water and sewer pipes.

NEW 'OFFICIAL' SIGNS SPOTTED
Two new signs have appeared today on either side of the entrance/exit doors to the auditorium. One, an occupancy permit stating how many persons are allowed to occupy different rooms of the building. The other is a fire exit "picture." In case of emergency, follow the red Sharpie arrows ------> <-------

OCCUPANCY
With little fanfare, we were told yesterday (Tues. March 6, 2007) by our contractor that our new expansion was given a full occupancy permit by Stafford County. The final and actual permit will be issued in several days by the County. In the meantime, a temporary paper permit will be issued for display.
Our first construction blog entry was on July 25, 2005. It read: We signed our construction contract today at 12:45PM. The contract was signed with Williams Contracting, Inc. with a value of approximately $691,000! See our construction trailer now on site.
All said, from and including Mon, Jul 25, 2005 to, but not including Tues, Mar 6, 2007, it has been 589 days from the start date to the end date, or 1 year, 7 months, 9 days, or 50,889,600 seconds, or 848,160 minutes, or 14,136 hours, or 84 weeks (rounded down). Impressed?

CONSTRUCTION BRIEFS
1. The construction trailer is now gone from our property. The drive-through to our auditorium front entrance is open for business!
2. The ice stops that were mounted on our auditorium roof to keep the ice from slipping off of the roof and konking people on the head were...well...er...knocked off by the very ice they were supposed to hold back. Odds are now you will more likely get konked on the head by a loose ice stop than by ice. Repairs to be made soon.
3. Unfortunately, the ice falling off of the auditorium roof also separated a rain gutter from the roof, too. Repairs to be made soon.
4. On a happier note, the window tinting is up and running on the auditorium east window. Looks good and works good, too.
5. Our two diagonal parking spots by the dumpster enclosure have been converted into four straight-in parking spots next to a much smaller dumpster enclosure. We are now in compliance with Stafford County regarding the right number of parking spots in our parking lot. Come on, occupancy permit!
6. Don't fear the tow truck that will be parked in our parking lot for a few weeks. We are helping out a neighbor until he can find a more suitable spot to locate the truck permanently. He will try to keep out of your way if you will try to keep out of his way. You never know...he may be the one to carry your car to the repairman some day for you.
