Since we kind of surprised everyone this past Sun with our move into our new building one week early most everyone, including our assembly worship leaders, were caught a bit off guard. Regardless, we had a good and memorable service. Parts of it were captured on video for posterity (and anyone else!). The sun really shined in strong on this day from the east windows literally drenching those presiding in sunlight and blinding those in the audience. It sounded different, too. Our relatively small group in a space three times larger than our older auditorium made for some new sounding sounds (or lack of), for sure. People had to find their seats. As in any group, there will be some who stake out "their" seats forever and forever. Don't know if the seats have been selected permanently yet or not but, no doubt, some were working to get "their" seats identified for future assemblies. Time will tell. Anyway, enjoy the video. - Getting ready for today's Ministry Fair, the first official major meeting in our new building expansion.

- Windows are being installed, much internal wiring, platforms for air handling, more doors installed, and wood for door casings.

- First signs of electrical, window facings are being installed, the faux ceiling mounts are going in, and the place is generally being secured with doors more and more.

- Much inside work. Baptistry has shown up for mounting. Bathroom piping is being secured. Absolutely, the rooms and doors and such are easily seen now.

- Many more rooms taking form, fire hydrant now permanently in place, roof almost done. It is really starting to look like a building!

- Water line installed, a new fire hydrant, and inside rooms taking shape.

- More walls, roof, insulation, water lines, and the final steps of our own fire hydrant.

- Walls are going up and the water and sewer line is being trenched along with our very own fire hydrant!

- One door is up (who will use that?), a backwall panel is up, and a trophy car is demonstrated on the floor.

- The steel is up and the result is something that looks like a big auditorium of some kind. Watch out...still lots of loose pieces and parts on the site.

- The first steel is bolted to the slab. Suddenly, the project takes on a three dimensional aspect as it now rises up from the ground.

- Ready for steel! This site looks like a big basketball court (except for the pipes). It looks great.

- Put away for one week under a cover of tarps and plastic, the concrete pour needs to harden, cure, and set with little or no bother. It is this setting process which provides the concrete with its static strength.

- After many months, we now have a building pad! Doesn't all of that smooth, green cement just make you want to take a dive in?
11 - February 25
- Deconstruction! These photos are about the removal of a footer around our building due to incorrect concrete mixtures. The good news is that we are on our way again. (Boy, who is going to carry away all of the rubble?)

- Getting ready for the final slab pour.

- Foundation Cut at 2:45PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Other pictures build up to the cut and then depict the additional work around the soon-to-be concrete slab for the new building.
08 - December 16
- Some final pictures before the footers are poured...assuming the weather cooperates. This mud hole will quickly turn into our new and very special building. Once the footers are in, the expansion project becomes far less dependent on weather conditions.
07 - November 18
- Our building showed up! It is like an Erector set. Probably thousands of parts. It was offloaded about 10AM today. Hard to imagine what it will look like seeing it laying on the ground like this.
06 - November 17
- The heavy equipment is back! And our last and favorite tree stump is now gone, too. Our old front yard is now getting ready for footers and a foundation.
05 - October 15
- Clean-up and recovery from our flood. Anne and Tonya are our heros! See the carpet being pulled up, the floors being painted, and the moving of all of the downstairs furniture.
04 - October 8
- An attempt to stem the water from flowing into our septic tanks outside. The mud was easily calf-deep. The rain was coming down in sheets!
03 - October 7
- The first day of our "sewer flood". What a mess! See the damage and clean-up on Friday.
02 - October 5
- Temporary electrical poles and power is being installed and should be done in several days.
01-September 24
- A mysterious hole appeared in the overhead of one of our classrooms. Actually, no mystery at all...just work to find water and sewer pipes.

Feb 11, 2007 - Move In
Thanking God, we officially moved into our new facility on this date, Sun, Feb 11, 2007 after close to two years of construction and quite a few more years of planning, praying, and preparing. More pictures and video to follow about our first day, but you can start with 54 - February 11 for now. Yes, we had announced that our move-in date would be Feb 18 but it was determined this past week that the facility was ready for use so (please forgive the elders for being somewhat coy) it was decided to announce the move mid-service in our old auditorium today, Feb 11. In the old building, we had a song, prayer, a few announcements, and then our members were asked to pick up their songbooks...and proceed to the new building to further our assembly worship together. After a few minutes of moving from one building to the other, we continued in song, prayer, sharing in the Lord's Supper, words from Scripture, and a closing. Many milled about the new facility for quite some time after the close of our assembly. It was grand! Again, thank God for blessing us so richly with this physical structure and thanks to each of our supporting (and very patient!) members at NSCofC. Today was truly memorable, special, and wonderful.

Long Overdue Update

No, we haven't been ignoring you for the past month. We have just been wanting to report new information other than it is taking a loooooooooooong time to get into this building. Bottom line...we are probabaly within days or just a few weeks, at the most. We truly hope and pray it will be sometime in Feb that we can take occupancy and start using what has ended up being a very nice looking building (inside and out).
The Porta-John is gone, the grass is growing, final work on the drainage ditch is coming along, bushes are budding, the foyer is all clean and waxed, the bathrooms are in beautiful condition, the carpet is in mint condition, the chairs are waiting to be placed, and just so many things that make us want to move in RIGHT NOW!
But, we wait patiently for our fire alarm/monitoring system to get fully installed and tested. This has been long and kind of frustrating. First, the systems in the old and new buildings had to be connected together (sort of). The old building's system was in very bad shape. Then, we had to get two phone lines in to monitor the two systems, respectively. This is taking an Act of God to accomplish. And, finally, a monitoring service has to be put under contract to monitor the fire systems in the buildings. It is good to live in Stafford County! They are so concerned about our well-being. (Kind of tongue-in-cheek, here, if you can't tell.)
Yes, Virginia, we will move in very, very soon. In all seriousness, it has been a long, long haul but a lot of people have stuck to it and will see this through. Again, much thanks to Mike for trying to honcho this major project with a lot of help from Marty and the entire building committee.
