See the latest pictures of the construction progress at 36 - October 5. Lots going on. We are literally at the cusp of significant activity on the lot. But first, another thanks to Mike Faris for being our on-site project manager. He has proposed, managed, and then seen to completion several projects that have all been within the larger overall construction project.
In the last two weeks, for example, he arranged to have the old septic tank lids crushed. (Remember our Septic Sewer Flood of October 2005?) The tanks (of which there were three) were then filled with gravel and made completely safe. Also, Mike is working the outside well mini-project. Basically, we are not abandoning the old well. All of the electrical has been removed but the well remains intact. Mike will lower the well-head to below grade and then sufficiently cover it so as not to somehow damage it as construction is finished up. If, in the future, we need some outside water we will be able to re-wire the well and use it as we see fit (but not as potable water). Thanks, Mike, for managing these
efforts and others, as well.
So, the water is running in the new building (though shut off since it is not needed), the electrical panels are mostly wired and wires are terminated, paving of the parking lot (for which we have been waiting for fifteen years!) is imminent, curbing and turn lanes are to be completed in several days, the stage is now in place, parking lights are up, the H/VAC is installed, and chairs are on their way.
Did we mention chairs are on their way? We asked you, on Oct 1, to help us fund about $16,000 worth of auditorium chairs. We currently have chairs and could have used them but many thought nice and new chairs would be a good thing to have. Well, we asked and and within several hours you had completely funded the chairs...and even more. What a gracious and kind people you are. While the world at NSCofC will NOT rotate around whether we have new chairs or not, this one example demonstates exactly what we have come to expect at NSCofC. When there is a need, be it chairs or support for missionaries, NSCofC always steps up and meets the challenge. Good people, you are.
Don't miss the next few weeks. They are going to busy and full of important construction events.
